The overarching principle of Actelion’s Corporate Responsibility reflects the company’s mission to provide innovative medicines for unmet medical needs. To this end, the company has continued to invest heavily in its research and development efforts. During 2010, this investment totaled CHF 484.3 million, which represents 27% of our product sales.
The company is confident that in this way we can deliver the most value to all stakeholders – and most importantly to patients. However, we also understand that it is important to pursue this mission in a responsible, respectful and ethical manner.
In 2009, Actelion took steps to formalize its approach to Corporate Social Responsibility, establishing areas of focus which we are committed to working on. During 2010, we put tools in place to measure and report our progress in realizing the strategy.
