Patient advocacy

Patient organizations can be an important support network and source of information for patients who are living with illnesses. They are non-profit organizations that help to raise awareness of treatment options and advocate for better patient care.

Actelion believes that patient organizations should be independent, and we abide by the relevant codes of practice for interacting with patient organizations.

Furthering scientific understanding

The scientific understanding of disease processes and the discovery of new targets are essential to advance the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.  Actelion sponsors the following scientific foundations:

Fundación Española para el Estudio y Terapéutica de la Enfermedad de Gaucher (FEETEG)
FEETEG is the Spanish Gaucher Disease Foundation. It is a national referral center for patients who have Gaucher disease and is dedicated to the scientific study of disease and treatment.

Brain for Brains (B4B)
Brain for Brains is a European Research Task Force that works in close collaboration with industries in order to develop and investigate new approaches for the therapy of neurological complications in patients with lysosomal storage disorders.
