The AERA grant program targets young investigators
The Actelion Endothelin Research Awards (AERA) is a grant-based program designed for young investigators with the aim of encouraging clinical endothelin research related to heart, lung, and vascular diseases.
AERA is funded by Actelion and is part of a global program committed to endothelin research. This global program also includes the Entelligence program that is targeted at young investigators in the US.
Projects supported by the AERA program are 12-month mentored investigator-initiated trials with patient involvement. Since its inception in 2006, the AERA program has received 152 applications from qualified investigators in 22 countries worldwide, from which 12 innovative projects have been granted funding.
The AERA-supported projects have been executed with scientific excellence, and the awarded investigators have shared their success with the scientific community through a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as oral presentations and posters at national and international meetings.
Applications are evaluated by the AERA Steering Committee, an independent board of respected experts in endothelin research, who decide which projects should be awarded grants and provide strategic guidance to the AERA program.
